Dive Team
Ready to Dive In
Introductory, intermediate, and advanced lessons and competitive Novice and Junior Olympic Teams are offered throughout the calendar year to assure consistent and efficient improvement. Since the RBAC opened, the Rose Bowl Dive Team has been one of the top teams in the nation. Almost all of our high school graduates continue diving in college and many have received scholarship offers.
Rose Bowl Aquatics provides an inclusive, diverse, equitable, and safe environment for all its members. We encourage all athletes to realize their full potential in and out of the pool. Each team member is encouraged and challenged to develop their highest competitive success within a collaboratively supportive environment. Beyond the athletics component, Rose Bowl Aquatics Center will instill positive qualities benefiting athletes for life beyond their sport.
For first-time beginners, all that is needed are swim trunks or bathing suit, basic swim skills, and eagerness to have some athletic fun.

Who is eligible to participate in our dive programs?
Everyone who is able to swim and owns a bathing suit or swim trunks!
Is there a minimum age requirement?
No. However, basic swim skills are essential. Our divers practice at the deep end (18ft) of the pool, and divers need to be able to emerge from their dive and return to the deck on their own. Some of our divers have started diving as young as 5 years old. The current age range of our dive team is 8 to 17 years old.
How can I get my kid started?
Sign up for Dive Lessons or try one of our learn to dive days. Otherwise you can contact our head coach to set up an evaluation session. Please email jmiralda@rosebowlaquatics.org.
What is the difference between “beginner”, “novice”, and “J.O.”?
A beginner is someone who is starting to learn basic dive skills for the very first time. A novice is a diver who has acquired sufficient dive skills to be accepted into the Dive Team. As a novice, an athlete can start participating in local dive competitions (against novice divers from other teams in the Southern California area).
J.O stands for Junior Olympics. A J.O. diver has progressed beyond the novice stage and has advanced to the next level. J.O. divers participate in local and regional competitions, and may qualify for national and international dive meets. At the RBAC, we are train divers at all levels.
How can I get my diver onto the Dive Team?
Once a first-time beginner has acquired basic dive skills, the coach will decide whether the athlete is ready to join the team as a novice.
Are there additional fees?
There are no additional fees at the beginner level. Divers who have advanced to Dive Team (novice and J.O.) and would like to participate in dive competitions are required to register and pay annual membership dues to USA Diving and Amateur Athletic. These organizations organize competitive dive meets. These fees are in addition to RBAC facility use fees as listed above. There are some Booster Club dues that will be shared once you join the team.
Why do you have “offsite practice”?
At this time, our dive tower (platforms 5 meters and above) is closed. We have access to a dive tower at another facility and provide this training opportunity to our Dive Team.
Are you closed during the winter months?
No. Our programs are ongoing year-round. Our pools are heated, and additional support is provided by two hot tubs nearby the dive boards.
How can I get in touch if I have further questions?
Feel free to call RBAC’s front desk at 626-564-0330 x404 or email the dive coach at jmiralda@rosebowlaquatics.org.
Where do we compete?
In the Southern California area, and some national and international events when you reach the JO level.
Do you offer financial assistance?
Yes, visit https://rosebowlaquatics.org/scholarships for more information.
