Who We Are

The Rose Bowl Aquatics Center, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, opened in 1990 and is located in Pasadena’s beautiful Brookside Park, just south of the famous Rose Bowl Stadium. This world-class aquatics facility offers year round aquatic and fitness programming to children, youth, families and seniors so that all generations can achieve the benefits of healthy living habits, regular exercise, and sports training. Today we serve more than 450,000 patrons annually.

  • During inclement weather such as rain, the pools are open. If there is lightning and thunder, we must evacuate the pools and the pool deck for 30 minutes. For up-to-date closure information, you can follow our Twitter
  • Ample parking is offered free of charge directly in front of the Center in parking Lot I. Handicap parking is available.
  • Traditional swimwear is required. All babies must wear an approved swim diaper that fits tightly around the legs. (Example: Huggies, Little Swimmers) Patrons are welcome to wear rash guards, wetsuits, and other swim apparel. Patrons are NOT allowed to wear jeans, cut-off jean shorts, t-shirts, and cotton clothing including tank tops in the water. No noodles, toys, personal flotation devices, or swimsuits with built-in flotation devices.
  • The Center provides men’s and women’s locker rooms with showers, lockers, changing areas and restrooms. There are smaller men’s and women’s restrooms available for parents/caretakers with children of the opposite sex under the age of 3.
  • The RBAC lifeguard staff includes over 40 members who have successfully completed the 31-hour lifeguard certification, CPR certification and First Aid Responder Training. Multiple guards monitor the pools and facilities.
  • All the pools are heated year-round.
    Competition Pool: 80 degrees
    Recreational Pool: 84 degrees
    Therapy Pool: 91 degrees
    The Center accepts cash, Master Card, Visa and personal checks. Please make checks payable to the Rose Bowl Aquatics Center (RBAC).
  • The Therapy Pool was constructed in 2004 and opened in February 2005 and 1,500 patrons use the Therapy Pool weekly.
    Open from dawn to night, the RBAC provides over 100 hours of programming weekly.
  • Nearly 1000 and counting young people train and compete for our swim, dive and water polo teams!
  • There are 1,600,000 gallons of water in our three pools. The pump and filtering system operates 24/7, providing the safest environment possible for our aquatic programs.
  • The RBAC is open year-round, 7 days a week. 2022 holiday closures are Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Years Day. We will close at noon on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve. The RBAC also closes 4 hours prior to any large-scale event at the Rose Bowl Stadium such as football games and concerts. (Hours of operation are subject to change)

The Center
is Home To:

  • Two Olympic-size (50 Meter x 25 Yard) pools with water depths up to 17ft.
  • One 55,000 gallon warm water pool
  • Two hydro therapy spas
  • Diving platforms at five, seven, and ten meters (currently closed)
  • Six springboards, including two three-meter boards
